The Laser Processing Unit (LPU) designed for Form 3 is composed of various parameters to direct the light perpendicular to the print. The laser beam is filtered to eliminate stray light and then sent to the galvanometer which redirects it to the Y axis. It is then reflected in a first mirror and then in a parabolic mirror to arrive perpendicular to the contact of the room. This system ensures uniform exposure of the laser to the liquid resin and improves precision and fineness properties.
The Form 3 printer also incorporates a new type of resin tray. It has a flexible bottom that adapts to the movements of the optical system. In addition, as the workpiece is vertically withdrawn from the work platform, the flexible portion of the resin tray gently peels off the workpiece to reduce shrinkage and improve surface finish.
