THE COIL DRYING UNIT
MiQ 5 is the material drying unit of innovatiQ. The dryer also serves as a compartment storage for the filament material. The filaments in this drying unit can be guided to the printer for printing directly after drying. Drying is an important process in the 3D manufacturing to improve filament quality. In additive manufacturing, it is important that the filament remains “dry” continuously. innovatiQ has chosen with MiQ 5 the best method to bring the filament in optimal condition before extrusion.
Two functions are combined in MiQ 5
The “warming” and and “active dehumidification” operate completely independently in the drying chamber. This drying unit improves properties of the filament.
DRYING MATERIALS IS DONE IN 3 STEPS
- The drying chamber of the material is constantly heated to 55°C maximum. Heated air allows release the water stored in the polymer.
- Hot air is dehumidified actively. For this, the air in the room is brought by a permanent flow and guided in front of two modules Peltier.
- Moisture is removed and evaporated. The user must not open the drying chamber or manually empty the container.
Why do we need to dry ?
The filament material absorbs moisture in principle. The moisture in the filament results in lower quality printing results. The known effects are burrs (stringing) and the formation of air bubbles.
The main advantages of material drying are obvious: a better appearance of the printed parts, better mechanical properties and a more reliable printing process
