Detailed features of RoboWAAM

Installation and infrastructure

The RoboWAAM Advanced is designed as a standalone shopfloor installation. The only services required are power and gas. The system can be reconfigured to accommodate wide-area parts with tooling of various sizes, or rotational components.

Control Centre

All machine functions are supervised from a dedicated front control desk. The operator has a unified interface to manage all manufacturing operations from a single location.

External Wire Storage

The system accommodates large spools (70 kg) or drums (250 kg) for longer uptimes and reduced operator intervention. Wires can be replaced from the outside without breaking the inert atmosphere (if global shielding is deployed).

Control Electronics

WAAM3D’s proprietary control system houses the PLC and monitoring hardware, governing the machine from behind the scenes and connected to the front control centre.

Fume Management System

The system provides containment and onboard automatic filtration of deposition fumes. It also enables global shielding for reactive metals, with automatic establishment and maintenance of an inert atmosphere to user-defined O₂ levels. The motorised flexible enclosure minimises purging time and cost.

Software: WAAMPlanner and WAAMCtrl

WAAMPlanner handles tool path planning, process parameter allocation and automation of the 8 coordinated axes of motion. WAAMCtrl provides real-time process monitoring, data logging and visualisation. The workflow is identical to that of all other WAAM3D integrated systems.
