Detailed features of MiniWAAM
Compact and mobile platform
The MiniWAAM is a standalone turnkey system designed to be easily transported and redeployed to support manufacturing operations wherever needed. All functions required for wire arc additive manufacturing are self-contained, with no dedicated infrastructure required beyond power and gas connections.
Process: Dual-Wire PTA with Multi-Material Capability
The MiniWAAM integrates the dual-wire Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) process, with Dual Wire PTA (PMAX) available as an option. It natively supports multi-material deposition, enabling the production of functionally graded components and in-situ alloy development.
Integrated Inert Chamber
The system features an inner chamber measuring 1,6 × 1,5 × 1,6 m with fully automatic purging, atmosphere maintenance and evacuation cycles, enabling deposition of reactive materials at less than 50 ppm O2.
Fume Extraction and Filtration
Onboard management of deposition fumes enhances the system’s portability and ensures compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
4-Axis CNC System
The architecture uses a 3-axis overhead cartesian system combined with a rotational table with a 60 kg payload and 500 mm diameter. The system is driven by a Siemens controller.
PTA End-Effector with Onboard Sensors
The PTA end-effector integrates pyrometers, cameras and laser interferometry for uncompromising process monitoring and control, at the same level as the RoboWAAM Advanced.
Software: WAAMPlanner and WAAMCtrl
WAAMPlanner handles tool path planning and process parameter allocation. WAAMCtrl is the all-encompassing operating system: real-time monitoring, control, data logging, digital twin mapping and interactive data navigation. The workflow is identical to that of the RoboWAAM Advanced.
