BMW i8 Roadster incorporates 3D printed component produced with HP Multi Jet Fusion technology

At the BMW Group, the use of 3D printing in the series production of vehicle components is on the rise. During the last decade alone, the company has produced 1 million 3D printed parts. The one-millionth part manufactured by BMW Group is the window guide rail for the BMW i8 Roadster, which has gone into series production and has been manufactured using HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200 Printing Solutions.

Bowman International uses HP Multi Jet Fusion technology to produce and manufacture their own bearings and bearing seals for use in a roller cage assembly. With the use of the HP 3D High Reusability PA 11 material, they have achieved better mechanical properties and greater elongation at break.

CRN, a brand of The Channel Company, has recognized HP Inc. with a 2018 CRN Tech Innovator Award for its HP Jet Fusion 500/300 Series 3D Printers. These annual awards honor standout hardware, software, and services that are moving the IT industry forward.

CRN editors evaluated 300 products across 34 technology categories using several criteria, including technological advancements, uniqueness of features, and potential to help solution providers solve end users’ IT challenges.
